Combatting Exhaustion for Estheticians

After a long day at the spa, taking care of your clients, you probably want to relax and let go of the pressures of your day, and leave the stress behind you.  You deserve to save some time for yourself and your family after putting in most of your energy for the day into your work.

Having an evening routine and an early bedtime are good ways to combat exhaustion. Try doing one or more of these things to get the most out of your leisure time after work.

Breathe some fresh air
A change of scenery after being cooped up indoors all day will help you relax. Try getting out of the house for a walk , or start a backyard garden you can tend to. Breathing in fresh air will relax you.

Get a sweat in
Exercise releases endorphins, and sweats out toxins. Aside from the benefits of a leaner, stronger body, regular physical exercise will help you feel happier and more energetic in the long run.

Take a hot bath
The best way to leave work behind you is to wash away the tension from your body. Warm water has a calming effect on the mind and body. If you have a bath tub, soak your body with some Epsom salts.

Meditate
Meditation is a great way to channel your energy from stress to positivity. Also, simple restorative yoga poses and light stretching will help your body wind down from the day. A particularly good position for unwinding is child’s pose and savasana.

Get some sleep
There’s no better way to restore energy than getting a good night’s sleep. Dimming the lights sends your body a signal to wind down and go to bed, so instead of keeping the bright lights on all evening, dim them when you get home. As early as you can, turn off all electronics, including the TV. Make a habit to stop checking your social media at a certain time every night.

Create your sanctuary
Soft pillows, warm blankets, and a serene color scheme in your bedroom will help your mind relax and drift off into sleep. I like to fill the diffuser in my bedroom an hour before sleep with lavender essential oil.
